A Stones Throw RV Campground is pleased to announce our excitement working with Jacquie Randle of Randle Handles Horticulture Ltd, and we could not be more excited! For months (feels like years) we have been working on tree and bush varieties and got it to a point where we thought we would be ready to make some purchases. That is until we enlisted Randle Handles Horticulture Ltd to take a gander at our ambitious plans and ensure what we want to do will survive in our chinook prone zone. I won’t go as far as saying it was ‘divine intervention’ but needless to say Jacquie has immediately made a profound improvement to our tree / shrub plans!
Along with the help from Mother Nature, plus our major investment in a drip irrigation system, we have dramatically improved the expected survival rate of planted foliage as well as increase the size, variety, and uniqueness to our 8 Green Spaces. We could plant a mix of anything and everything everywhere…. but that is not what we want for our guests. Our goal is admittedly lofty but like any garden you need to first plant a seed. Our goal is to create a micro-climate, a botanical oasis that will educate and enlighten our guests throughout the year. It will take time but you have to start somewhere.
The whole campground development has been broken into 13 unique zones where people can appreciate different varieties of trees and bushes in different locations. Each Green Park will be unique with plenty of opportunities to pick fruit and berries throughout each season. Not to say it will be fully developed and mature in our first year of being open, but we will be planting trees and shrubs this year and every year after.
With the assistance of Jacquie Randle (visit randlehandles.com) our lofty dreams will no doubt become a reality turning a wheat field into a premier RV campground in southern Alberta. From our family to yours, thank you again for your interest in A Stones Throw RV Campground, Opening May 2022!
Happy Camping,
Colin Monner and Family
