Happy New Year!
We hope you enjoyed the holidays and this finds you warm and well. Christmas is a magical time of the year, a time when people extend themselves to other folks who may not be family but neighbours, members of your community, and strangers alike. The Milo Community is a “one in a million” special rural community, a place where local groups are always hosting events throughout the year. We’ve already enjoyed a Milo Lions Pancake Turkey Bingo, a Milo Community School Christmas Concert, and a Milo Family Christmas event including a visit from Santa, hay rides, crafts, and a Christmas Decoration contest!
Recently Travel Alberta posted a story that really spoke to us (link attached below), the bond between tourism and community. If it was not for the Community of Milo our family would not have made the major investment developing A Stones Throw RV Campground where we did! It has not been an easy endeavour starting out with a wheat field nearly 6 years ago, but over the last two years of being open we are starting to see our dream come alive.

We are now 1/3 reserved with fantastic guests who love the beauty the prairies. The majority of guests at A Stones Throw RV Campground are older families where the kids have gone off to school or retired. The three consistent complements that our business receives is 1. Clean Bathrooms 2. The Peace and Quiet found out here and 3. How wonderful the Community of Milo is! Only 5 minutes away, the Village of Milo has become VERY popular on Wednesday Night Wing night at the Milo Hotel & Bar. The newly built The Cottage offers the best Chinese Food, Western Cuisine and Homemade Pizzas! Green’s Grocery Store provides the goods to locals, guests and tourists visiting Lake McGregor only a few minutes away.
Our business goal is “Commerce for the Community”, A Stones Throw RV Campground boasts more residences than the Village of Milo. We wanted to attract families and business to our community and we’re over joyed seeing it become a reality! We’ve already had guests sell their residences in the city to move out here they like it so much! Rural community spirit is contagious, it is refreshing, it warms your heart when you get exposed to it. A Big Thank You to the Community of Milo and the Village of Milo for all of the sprit that they put into everything.
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone from A Stones Throw RV Campground.
