Seasonal guests of A Stones Throw RV Campground have gotten to know the Monner family pretty well, the same people who developed the campground work there every day. If you like take the time to read our Google Reviews some day, apparently we’re not too hard to get along with 😉 On several occasions we find ourselves chatting with a guest and we will wave at a local airplane flying overhead. Milo has a rich local Canadian military history, and from that service Milo boasts several local pilots.
When we hosted the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada’s (RASC) 38th Annual Star Party we also had the opportunity to open our doors to the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) which supports Canada’s Search and Rescue (SAR) program. They are sponsored by the Department of National Defence who provides training in SAR awareness, meteorology, survival awareness and search techniques and procedures.
During the Star Party weekend guests were able to observe a search-and-rescue exercise. A target was placed near the reservoir and two different search planes flew overhead, honing their skills in locating the target and assessing the the difficulty ground-based responders would experience in accessing the (simulated) crash site.
We are proud to have been able to be of assistance the CASARA. If you know a military veteran please let them know we offer a 10% discount to those who have served our country. Several guests at A Stones Throw RV Campground have a military background and we always enjoy the chance to chat.
